Mission and vocation

St. Faustina spent only 13 years in the Congregation. She had always discovered God’s love in her service. Her life, hidden for others, seemingly mundane and without any great deeds, is full of mysticism. A testimony of special intimacy with God is the “Diary” written by Sister Faustina, at a special request from Christ.

In God’s plan of salvation, the Mystic of Głogowiec plays a special role. Chosen by Christ as “Secretary” and “Apostle” of His Mercy, she brings the message of infinite Divine Mercy. Divine Mercy should be spread among people, particularly the poor sinners. “Misericordias” means having a heart for the poor. There is no greater poverty, misfortune than life without God, in mortal sin. In order to make sure that the blood of Christ from His Sacred Heart shed on the Cross is not in vain, St. Faustina sacrificed her life to God to save souls of the poor sinners, those who are lost, who had never been the beloved children of the Heavenly Father.

The message of Divine Mercy, through the service of St. Faustina, was given to the world until the end of times. In this way, the King of Mercy wants to prepare humanity destroyed by sins for His second coming. Trust and belief in His Mercy are the way to save the eternal life of every human soul.

My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy (…) Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy.
(Diary, 699)

The mission of St. Sister Faustina, given to Her by the King of Mercy, consists in the following three tasks:

* bringing closer and preaching the revealed truth to the world in the Bible about the Merciful Love of God to every man;

* asking for Divine Mercy to the whole world through, among others, practice of new types of Divine Mercy worship given by the Lord Jesus, including:

In the Old Covenant I sent prophets wielding thunderbolts to My People. Today I am sending you with My mercy to the people of the whole world.

Starting from August 25, 2001, nuns from the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy have been ministering at the Shrine; they offer conferences on Divine Mercy, with prayer and sacrifice they ask for graces to sinners, provide guided tours to pilgrims and help in maintaining the family house of St. Faustina in Głogowiec. They also perform apostolic service at the parish and Shrine through catechesis, organ playing and in sacristy. Apostolic and contemplative ministries of the Congregation operate in the newly built convent.

During the jubilee year of the centennial anniversary of the birth and baptism of St. Faustina, works started on expansion of the Shrine. They dedicated the entire effort of building the new part of the place of worship to the Merciful God as a votive offering for Saint Faustina, the most distinguished Daughter of the Włocławek Church. Thanks to the generosity of the Parishioners, Faithful of the Włocławek Church and Pilgrims, the project was completed after a decade.

On August 23, 2015, His Excellency Bishop of Włocławek Wiesław Alojzy Mering performed the solemn consecration of the new part of The Shrine of the Birth and Baptism of St. Faustina in Świnice Warckie.

On the occasion of the Jubilee Year of Mercy 2015-2016, by the will of the Holy Father Pope Francis, the Bishop of Włocławek established the Shrine of St. Faustina as the Jubilee Station Church, known also as the Gate of Mercy. Those who cross this Gate can gain a plenary indulgence fulfilling the usual conditions. This baptism church of the Apostle of Mercy became a place of meeting of young people coming from outside Poland to participate in the World Youth Days in 2016.
